Curriculum and Instruction
Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction:
Dr. Carol Marcotte
Our Focus:
One of the primary functions of the office of Curriculum and Instruction is the commitment to support outstanding, standards-based instruction through implementation of adopted materials in all K-8 classrooms using data-driven instruction and best practices. This is through the Professional Learning Community model.
The district's curriculum selection process involves teachers, parents, and administrators, and adheres to state and federal adoption guidelines.
Every year, the department, through curriculum teams, establishes and maintains contact with schools to chart a course for site-based and district staff development that is aligned with student needs and best practices for student achievement (research-based strategies, school improvement efforts, and school plans).
The office of Curriculum and Instruction provides professional development to Saco and Dayton School personnel in various ways that include:
Provide an instructional program that enables all students to reach high levels of achievement and acquire the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become responsible members of a democratic society.
Coordinate the opportunity for teachers to receive training in language arts and mathematics and other district-wide areas of focus.
